SAQ Next Gen Coaching Scholarship supported by SOF-Edwin Lee Yong Chuan Sports Fund
The scholarship is a Singapore Aquatics initiative, supported by the SOF-Edwin Lee Yong Chuan Sports Fund. It will sponsor a year-long programme at the National Training Centre (NTC) for a deserving coach.
Some highlights of the scholarship include:
- 12-month coaching development programme at the NTC (including six months of volunteering within the NTC environment)
- Mentorship by elite coaches
- Technical skill development
- Sports science integration
- Exposure to national programmes
- Customised development plans and structured milestones

SG-Coach Level 1 (Full Integration) Swimming Programme
The SG-Coach Programme aims to prepare aspiring coaches with the knowledge and skills of ‘how to coach’ and guide one to understand ‘why you coach’ through the introduction of values education and principles in sport within the local ecosystem.
This course aims to equip and train participants to be effective coaches in Swimming.
The SG-Coach Theory Level 1 curriculum is designed and delivered in a blended learning approach, consisting of SG-Coach Theory e-learning modules, SG-Coach Technical face-to-face classroom/pool sessions, SSA Assessments, SG-Coach Theory mock and official exams. Participants must complete all e-learning modules and online evaluation before attending the face-to-face sessions.
This course emphasises on reflection and feedback as effective coaching techniques in Singapore. Participants will go through online modules, classroom modules, Assessments and Practicum Attachments. Assessments and Feedback is given throughout the course to encourage active participation and continual learning.
This integrated coaching course is created in partnership with CoachSG and NROC.
